The Dauphiné is a rich historical and cultural region associated with a geographical area delimited to a population sharing specific cultural traits such as language, cuisine or traditional architecture.

It is located in the southeast quarter of France today.
The Dauphiné includes the Rhône Alpes regions (including the department of Drôme and Isère) and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d'Azur (including the department of Hautes-Alpes).
