Port Revel's fleet of model ships “has always followed the evolution of the world's fleet,” notes François Mayor, director of the Isère training center. However, over the last years, ships have become increasingly imposing. “
To adapt to this new situation, the ship handling training center plans to ”rapidly" build a new model, larger than the previous. The work will be carried out on site once the hull has been received. "The principle of this new construction has been accepted. It will probably be a bulker," explains François Mayor. “The construction of our models, produced on a scale of 1:25, represents an investment of between 750,000 and 1 million euros,” he adds.

This ship model will be the center's 13th, with delivery of the 12th (a container ship) made in 2019. The center, owned by engineering group Artelia, also has five tugboat models.
Another upcoming project for Port Revel, in winter 2025, is the retrofit of the model of the container ship Normandie.
In 2024, we will be redesigning our entire trajectory system, based on differential GPS, which delivers centimeter-accurate data," adds François Mayor. A major innovation for Port Revel.
